The electro-stimulation frequencies of VEINOPLUS® and most of NMES and TENS* are in the same low frequency range.
The distinct difference between VEINOPLUS® and the NMES & TENS stimulators on the market lies in the character of its proprietary waveform of each stimulating impulse delivered by VEINOPLUS®.
As a result, impulses delivered by VEINOPLUS® are uniquely capable of causing in-depth muscle contractions. These contractions are totally painless and safe for the user. Ultimately they cause hemodynamic events leading to effective therapeutic applications in venous disease and DVT Prevention.
Unique in-depth effect
Thanks to this unique waveform, the stimulating electrical field can painlessly penetrate deeply and encompass large volumes within body tissue. For example, VEINOPLUS® can effectively stimulate the "calf pump", even when its two electrodes are over 1 meter apart, for example one electrode on the left and one electrode on the right leg.
This is in contrast to most of the other stimulators (NMES & TENS), which require that at least two or more electrodes are placed in very close proximity to the target nerve or motor points of the same muscle.
Unique safety
The effective stimulation with VEINOPLUS® is done with lower quantity of electrical charges than with currently available NMES & TENS stimulators. This low quantity of electrical charges makes VEINOPLUS® stimulator one of the safest on the market. Its impulses are well below US AAMI/ANSI (NS-4;1986/2002) limits for safe stimulation even when inadvertently applied over the chest.
For example, in 2008 a clinical study by Le Tohic et al. on 59 pregnant women suffering from Venous Insufficiency (VI), showed that VEINOPLUS® had no effect on foetus and pregnancy, while it was effective and very well tolerated by patients.
Unique hemodynamic and clinical results
The first study evidencing the VEINOPLUS® action on blood pumping from legs and VI was by Zuccarelli et al. in 2005. In 2008 the above mentioned study on pregnant women by Le Tohic et al., showed that stimulation with VEINOPLUS® reduced leg edema, pain and resulted in improved Quality-Of-Life (QOL).
Recently, in 2009 a hemodynamic performance study (N=24) titled: « The Efficacy of New VEINOPLUS® Stimulation Technology to Increase Venous Flow and Prevent Venous Stasis » was completed by Prof A. N. Nicolaides et al. and was presented at the 22nd Annual Meeting of American Venous Forum on Feb.11. 2010.
In conclusion the authors said: “VEINOPLUS® stimulation is an effective method of activating the calf muscle pump. The enhancements of popliteal blood velocity and volume flow, as shown by this study, are key factors in the prevention of venous stasis and DVT”.
